Ernest Robles Way and Home Depot BLVD Street and Pedestrian Improvements.

This project includes several different goals.  From repairing pavement to improving pedestrian access and safety, these projects will improve the area for drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Ernest Robles Way

  • Pavement repairs including replacing pavement that has subsided or cracked.  This includes several large sections near Brodie Lane where water pools. These areas will be repaired to allow water to drain correctly.  Additionally, areas will be repaired that have cracked.  Areas that have raised will be ground down to make a smoother surface.  Joint material will also be replaced between the panels.
  • The area around the bridge will have several repairs including fixing the storm drains around the the bridge.  The limestone facing of the wingwalls for the structures will also be repaired.  The guardrail does not meet state crash cushion standards and will also be upgraded.
  • Raised crosswalks will be installed at the crossing near Upper Cougar Creek and at the crossing near the intersection of Sunflower Trail and the Homestead Shopping Center.  This will allow pedestrians to cross safely and help to calm traffic on the street.

Home Depot BLVD

  • Similar to Ernest Robles Way, areas of cracked concrete will be repaired.  Joint material will also be replaced.
  • The turn radius for the street will be widened to allow for trucks to turn onto Home Depot BLVD from Brodie Lane without hitting the median or sidewalk.  This will also improve safety of pedestrians in this area.  The traffic light in this area will be replaced due to the wider road.
  • An improved multi-use path will be built along the north side of Home Depot Blvd to improve the connection to the Violet Crown Trail.  New lighting may also be installed in this area to improve pedestrian safety.
  • The water meter vault along the road will have a drain installed to remove water that enters into the vault.  The concrete around the vault will be replaced to stop water from pooling within the area.
