As many of you are aware, Sunset Valley lies in the path of several waterways.

A large swath of Sunset Valley is located in a flood plain or a flood way, and is greatly impacted by flood events. View the interactive flood map from FEMA.

Sunset Valley is part of the Community Rating System (CRS), and as such, homeowners receive a discount on flood insurance necessary to obtain financing for things such as a remodel, repair, or purchase. In exchange, Sunset Valley agrees to comply with FEMA regulations in these areas. Understanding FEMA jargon is sometimes tough! To help the residents navigate through the jargon, here is a link to the terminology index.

Atlas 14 is the City of Austin's proposed map changes; FEMA has not amended the maps at this time.
