In order to reduce light pollution, the City of Sunset Valley is offering a rebate to replace existing light fixtures with dark sky friendly lighting.

LIGHT POLLUTION
Light pollution is exposure to excessive and inappropriate artificial light. Sunset Valley is a dark sky community encouraging lighting to face down.  This type of lighting helps reduce urban sky glow, light trespass, glare, and clutter.  The International Dark Sky association has developed a seal of approval for lights that reduce light pollution.

ELIGIBILITY

• Applicant
  • Must be a resident of Sunset Valley
• Equipment
  • Any brand or style is eligible as long as it dark sky certified or a fully shielded/full cutoff light.
  • A list of dark sky certified lighting can be found at www.darksky.org use the outdoor lighting tab.

REBATE

• 50% the cost of the light and installation up to $200 per light fixture.
• Up to 4 fixtures per house.

CHECKLIST

• Meet all eligibility requirements above
• Purchase the equipment.
• Submit the application within 30 days of purchase and include:
• Itemized receipts with vendor contact information for the equipment.
• Submit Rebate Application to and all required documents to:
