Public Water System
The City of Sunset Valley is a Public Water System and receives water from the City of Austin and redistributes it to residents and businesses throughout the City. The City has over seven miles of water lines and monitors the system daily to maintain compliance with the standards set forth by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The Public Works Department manages and maintains the system through a cross connection control program, installing and reading meters, and performing repairs. What's in the Works?
The City is initiating a program to begin Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI). This is a program to bring automated meter reading to the City. This program will allow residents to monitor their water usage through an online portal. This program can help detect leaks earlier. The City is in a pilot program phase to determine the effectiveness of the system. Once the pilot program has been completed successfully, the system will move forward to all residential meters in the City.
