Stormwater originates from rainfall and other precipitation that runs off surfaces such as streets, rooftops, parking lots and even compacted dirt and gravel.  During rain events stormwater flows into the storm sewer system and then into nearby creeks.

Sewer or Storm Drain???

The sewer takes all of the wastewater from inside a home or business and sends it to the wastewater treatment plant.

The storm drain system helps with flood control.  The storm drain system takes water from streets and it is not treated.  Any pollutants that are picked up along the way flow directly into the creeks.  This can harm fish, plants, and other wildlife that live in these areas.

Help Protect Our Creeks

  • Do not dump anything into storm drains.
  • Keep storm drains and ditches clean of debris and leaves. Do not blow leaves or yard waste into the storm drain.
  • Use a commercial car wash.  The water from these facilities flow into the sewer system and will be treated.
  • Clean up pet waste.
  • Report Dumping
