Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating the City’s preparation for and response to emergency situations. The City of Sunset Valley is exposed to many hazards, which have the potential for disrupting the community, causing damage and creating casualties.
Natural hazards include severe storms, floods, extreme heat, cold and ice, and tornadoes. The City is positioned on the southern transportation thoroughfare of Austin, Hwy 290, the City of Sunset Valley also faces the threat of hazardous material accidents involving the transportation of chemicals.
To address these potential threats, the City’s publishes an emergency management plan. This plan provides the framework upon which the City of Sunset Valley prepares for, responds to and performs its emergency response functions during times of natural or man-made disasters or national emergencies.
