Eyes on Sunset Valley Program
The Sunset Valley Police Department strives to keep an eye out for our residents who need a little extra care and attention. Residents or their caregivers can complete a request to participate in Eyes on Sunset Valley. Participants or their care providers must fill out care cards that provide responders with emergency contact information and information about their individual needs. Once enrolled participants can be placed on a routine safety and welfare check list. Listed care providers will then receive scheduled updates regarding officers’ observations of their loved one.
National Night Out Against Crime
The purpose of the annual National Night Out Against Crime is to bring the community together in a united effort to prevent crime and become educated in crime prevention methods. It is also a great opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors. In Sunset Valley, our local Night Out is held once yearly, generally the first Tuesday in October.
Coffee With a Cop
All too often, contacts between the police and citizens occur in the context of law enforcement-related situations. These are not ideal times to develop relationships between the police and the public. Coffee with a Cop is an opportunity for officers and members of the community to get together and learn more about each other. Events are held at various businesses within the city. The goal of the program is to foster the philosophy of community policing one cup of coffee at a time.
Citizen Ride Along
The Police Department encourages residents of Sunset Valley to ride with our officers and get a firsthand look at the daily operations of the department. Participants must be at least at least 18 years old and complete a waiver and brief background check.
Vacation Watch Program
The Sunset Valley Police Department will watch your home for you if you plan to be away for an extended period. Homeowners can just fill out our online Close Patrol Form and an officer will check their residence at least once per shift to ensure the premises are secure.
