Sunset Valley has a long history of protecting the night sky. In 2018, the City adopted outdoor lighting standards.  However, the State Legislature passed a bill that prohibited the City from being able to enforce that ordinance unless the City passes a resolution stating the City is pursuing a dark sky certification.  The Planning and Environmental Committee hosted a better lighting panel discussion to help people understand why the City would need the resolution and how the outdoor lighting regulations was designed to create better lighting in Sunset Valley.  The panel also pointed out areas where additional lighting may be beneficial in the City, particularly along Brodie Lane.  The link to the presentation can be found here.  (Passcode 9HC9%9Jj). Additionally, copies of the presentations are located below.
