Water & Wastewater

The City of Sunset Valley is a Public Water System and provides water distribution and wastewater collection services. The City receives water from the City of Austin and distributes it to the residents and businesses throughout the City. The wastewater also passes through Sunset Valley to be treated at facilities within the City of Austin. The City has over seven miles of water lines, five miles of wastewater lines, and one lift station it must maintain as part of the distribution and collection system. The water system is monitored daily to comply with the standards set forth by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The Public Works Department monitors and maintains the system including cross connection control, installing and reading meters, and performing repairs as necessary. The Public Works Department also maintains the fire hydrants that provide fire protection for the City.

Solid Waste

Texas Disposal Systems provides solid waste services. The Public Works Department maintains the City's storage yard for disposal of brush and other items.

Streets

The City has over 6 miles of streets and right of ways. There are over 1,300 public trees along these streets that the City monitors and maintains. The City maintains streets through preventative maintenance activities. This includes crack sealing city streets.

Facilities

The City has four buildings that the Public Works Department provides assistance or oversight in maintaining.
