Overview
The Budget and Finance Committee reviews the Financial Statements and the Financial Polices for the City and makes recommendations to the City Council; reviews departmental and other committee and organization’s request for the fiscal year budget and makes recommendations to the Mayor’s Budget; reviews budget amendments during the year and makes recommendations to the City Council. The Committee reviews annual expenses and revenues and provides direction to staff in preparing and analyzing financial projections for the development of the Long-Range Financial Plan. The Committee meets with the Independent Auditor and reviews the annual financial audit and makes recommendations to the City Council.
Membership
The Finance Committee is comprised of a City Council representative and residents appointed by the City Council. The Committee Chair and Vice Chair are elected by the members of the Committee.
Meetings
Meetings of the Finance Committee are held monthly during most of the year. The Committee currently meets on the last Thursday evening of every month. Weekly meetings held during budget discussions from June through August to complete the budget for the fiscal year starting in September. The public is encouraged to attend any meeting of the Finance Committee, which are held at City Hall, 3205 Jones Road.
